"Tutoring this student is getting better. He has put forth great effort and is doing well with his homework. He still needs to work on trying to use context clues to figure things out."
"The student worked to write an essay about community for his homework and then we started reading a new book together."
"Both students practiced writing vowels and CVC words. They also read books with CVC words with the short a sound. They are making really good progress. I told mom that rhyming stories and books with lots of repetition will be great books to read with the twins."
"Both students read a level L book, and student one was able to read fluidly and with expression but still replaced some words for others without self correcting. He used strategies such as chunking the words and using context to decode. Both students also practiced reading comprehension strategies and analyzed a higher level text. He struggled to understand metaphor in the text, but eventually, with practice and discussion of the text, he understood."
"Both students read a prompt about a new company's marketing campaign. The students analyzed the prompt for main ideas, highlighted unknown/new vocabulary words in the prompt, and analyzed the text with their own writing. The students were able to decipher unknown vocabulary words with the use of context clues and use evidence to support their ideas. Extra practice is to complete after reading questions and work on the vocabulary packet focusing on context clues."
