"During this lesson we covered the reading comprehension and math achievement questions of the ISEE upper level diagnostic test. The student has improved a bit whilst doing passages. He got more than half of the problems right and began differentiating between main idea and in-context questions. He struggled the most with the mathematics portion of the lesson, and this is mostly because of not having previous exposure to trigonometry and algebra concepts. After reviewing trigonometric ratios, percent of increase problems, and triangle properties and doing the corresponding learning tools practice problems, he can now do test questions with ease. This is the goal by test day, to cover all topics that he has not seen before so he will be ready to answer them under a timing restriction. I left him with practice timed exam problems in the reading sections of an ISEE workbook and he will go back and do the math problems with the new information he has gained from previous lessons. I definitely see small but steady improvements and with the extra work for these last two weeks, he will be ready to take the test with confidence!"
"We worked on the essay portion. He wasn't struggling too much with anything, just grammar and word choice."
"The student and I continued to practice math problems and use process of elimination to solve difficult problems."
