Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"In today's lesson, we reviewed the past tense and the command forms of regular and some irregular verbs. Furthermore, I introduced the reflexive verbs, which turned out to be a good idea; the student picked up on them very quickly and made some relatively long and complicated sentences. Her communicative Spanish is getting much better, as is her grammar."
"In today's session, we covered material on present progressive, demonstrative adjectives and demonstrative pronouns, and direct object pronouns. I had a list of examples and worksheets for the student to work off of. We learned what each subject was and clarified any doubts or misinterpretations he had with the material. I have also provided him with links to practice on his own. I have let him know that he can work on activities on his own and bring anything up during our session in case he needs more examples and clarifications on certain areas he is having trouble with."
"In today's session, we practiced for the student's speaking appointment by going over every question on the speaking test twice and correcting grammatical and pronunciation issues. Then, we reviewed indirect object pronouns and direct object pronouns. I helped clear her confusion about when to use these pronouns and where to place them in a sentence. In future sessions, I plan to review material with her and help her clear any confusions she may have. We will work on her pronunciation and conversation skills as well. She seems very motivated to learn and complete the first semester of Spanish 2. I am very excited to see her enthusiasm and look forward to working with her!"
"In today's session, we reviewed the numbers 1 to 100 and the spelling of the Spanish alphabet as well as the directions right/left and in front of/behind. We then went into how to ask and answer for the time and the ordinals. I gave a homework, which is a map from the student's home to her school, and her assignment will be to give me directions to go from one place to the other. We finished the reading of her first book, improving her pronunciation and vocabulary. Her assignment on this book is to re-read it and try to remember words and expressions that may have called her attention. We also introduced the vocabulary of the face and the concepts of masculine and feminine and singular and plural articles."
"In today's session, we talked about the student's recent trip in Spanish. She was struggling with translating some words from English to Spanish, so I helped her out with that. She understood my questions regarding her trip, and she did well in describing her trip in Spanish. It was a fun last session."
"Introduced/reviewed fruits, vegetables, and kitchen tools in Spanish. The student also verbally summarized two episodes from the spanish learning series which demonstrated good Spanish comprehension and ability to express themselves in Spanish. I corrected sentences and talked them through with the student. We also reviewed the newly assigned vocabulary words where the student shows she understands the word meanings."
