Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"Today, we worked on updating Word documents and PowerPoint presentations. I taught the student how to create screen shots and put them into Word and PowerPoint as well as crop pictures. I also helped her with her printer. She then did a run-through of her presentation that she is giving tomorrow."
"We covered how to use an Android phone and access Wi-fi. The student did well with instructions. We decided it would be best for her to practice using the keyboard since she is not used to a touch screen."
"We reviewed troubleshooting computer problems today. I showed the student how to deal with computer problems such as when the computer hangs up and how to navigate and use Gmail. She is learning about the computer in general. Using the computer is a way for her to practice what she learns."
"The student did a great job today! I have sent her an email and attached an updated vocabulary list which includes the new terms we learned today. Attached is also step-by-step instructions for locating downloaded files, creating a bookmark, and creating/saving a Microsoft Word document. What we accomplished today: 1. Created bookmarks for frequently visited sites 2. Accessed downloaded files using the File Explorer icon 3. Created and saved Microsoft Word documents 4. Downloaded attachments from an email 5. Set up the printer for wireless printing. What I hope to accomplish next week: 1. Cutting and pasting 2. Introduction to shortcuts 3. Email forwarding. Best regards!"
"We discussed one of his assignments from another tutoring service and talked about the importance of writing programs that solve a general problem, not a specific case. We then reviewed variable operations with this concept in mind through a few simple programming problems. I then began teaching about string operations and Booleans. After discussing his note-taking, I have decided to begin formalizing my notes and examples, and sending him a copy so he can review them after our sessions. I believe this will help him retain the things I go over during our meetings."
"We covered functions' interface and argument list. I helped with the solution of a problem. We covered some OOP concepts and general programming concepts. The student was attentive, active, and enthusiastic throughout the whole tutoring session."
