Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"Today we covered acid and base nomenclature, and how to balance equations. Next week, we will review for the semester final exam."
"Covered gas law problems and hybridization orbital. The session was good. He got everything down. Extra practices were left."
"Today we went over acids and bases: concepts, types, neutralization reactions. We also covered pH, pOH and equilibrium (finding constant and/or concentrations). This session served as a discussion of sample exercises and overall review for test tomorrow."
"The student and I covered more percent composition problems as well as how to find empirical formulas and molecular formulas. She quickly picked up on how to solve these problems and did not have much trouble with them. Near the end of the session, I introduced her to more complicated problems and chemical equations and walked her through a related problem just to begin to familiarize her with what she'll be doing soon."
"The student and I focused our session on VSEPR Theory. She used her knowledge of Lewis dot structure to deduce electronic and molecular geometries of various compounds. She struggled somewhat with visualizing and memorizing molecular geometries along with how they differed from electronic geometries. By the end of the session, she was a pro at using VSEPR Theory to determine electronic and molecular geometries of different molecules. She was able to differentiate the special cases for central atoms as well (e.g. S, P, Xe, etc.). Next session we plan to delve into using Lewis structures to determine enthalpy."
"The student and I reviewed everything in preparation for her final exam this week. She needed help naming some of the chemical compounds, so we went over those ones in detail. She was willing to learn and review the material."
