Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"We covered the student's old midterms, laboratory final exam, Kinematics, rate law, Acid base, equilibrium constant, solubility product, and electro-chemistry."
"The student and I covered the ideal gas law and fluid statics and dynamics. She did well overall and will do fine on the exam."
"We covered the concept of acids and bases as well as ionization constants. We discussed ionization of strong acids and bases, ionization of weak acids and bases, and hydrolysis equilibrium."
"We went over several practice problems for the student's final. Problems were AP-level difficulty and covered conservation of energy after a perfectly inelastic collision with conservation of momentum, two related pulley problems with force diagrams, and a spring force lab problem with uniform circular motion. The student is showing a lot of improvement using force diagrams. He could be a bit more careful adding up the arrows. He was able to get the correct values on the rotation problem on his own, and we discussed how to calculate the tangential speed to get the centripetal acceleration (circumference over period)."
"We went over some more calculus reviews. We started by reviewing trig integrals, detailing strategies for reorganizing sin and cos, tan and sec, and cot and csc to make our functions easier to integrate. We spent most of the rest of the time covering sequences and series, giving definitions for the geometric, harmonic, and p series, and discussing their convergence. We then went over the basics of the ratio test, the root test, the comparison test, and the limit comparison test."
"We went over some more thermochemistry questions. The student has shown improvement in understanding when to use formulas. She has a take-home exam to take, so we ended the session with questions remaining for practice on her own."
