Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"During this session we started reviewing electrochemistry and the principles of half cells and voltaic cells. We also related it to thermodynamics. We ended by looking at atomic chemistry."
"The student and I worked on her cumulative review for her midterm coming up next week. She did very well with most of the questions and is going to do very well on her exams."
"In today's session, the student and I reviewed empirical formulas, stoichiometry, and converting empirical formulas to molecular formulas."
"I had the student complete several stoichiometry and limiting reactant problems on her own as review from our last session. We then covered how to obtain the empirical and molecular formulas from mass percents. We also discussed solutions and measures of concentration. I also briefly introduced the difference reaction types, but we will cover these more in depth in our next session."
"I helped the student with her last review packet for her final exam tomorrow. We covered freezing point depression, the delta G= -RTlnK equation, and some acid-base equilibrium problems, calculating percent dissociation, Ka and pH of a buffer."
"I reviewed the ICE table for solving equilibrium problems plus showing the Henderson equation to solve the buffer problems. The student was struggling with ICE and buffer problems. She perceived better understanding after I went over each problem. I let her try each problem on her own and work together with some confusing problems. Then, I went over each single problem after my lecture. She will improve her score after doing more practice problems."
