Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"During this session, we were working on graphing. The student had several homework problems to complete. We were doing a lot of coordinate graphing on paper. Also we were figuring out relationships between two sets of data."
"We worked on common core math problems - the student will likely take the test before the end of the year. These included comparing fraction sizes by drawing them out on a number line. The student did a great job. He has no problem understanding the concept."
"Today we reviewed for the math portion of the assessment test. We went over some book problems on probability, translations, FOIL, etc. We also went over some online practice problems. She didn't struggle with anything we went over."
"The student had a few homeworks assigned, so we started with her math assignment. She had a sheet consisting of 19 questions which she worked through. She got 3 questions wrong, and I went over those to make sure she understands."
"We reviewed properties of a circle and answered sample questions. The student had struggled with ratios and proportions earlier, so we went back to review that too. He seems to be getting the concept and answered several questions successfully."
"The pupil and I had a great first session. We went over factoring quadratics and graphing them. We put quadratics in standard form into vertex form by completing the square. We also tackled a word problem that involved finding the flight time and height of a baseball being hit and the time it took to reach its maximum height."
"The student and I had a good session. We worked on his homework assignment for the week. It consisted of working with polynomial exponents. We also worked through a couple of practice ACT problems. He is doing very well in his class. He took a test last week and got an "A.""
"During this session, the pupil and I worked on a practice test. We went through each problem, discussed it, and checked the answer. She also had math homework that involved writing algebraic expressions based on word problems and conversion. I explained a couple of the word problems. She seemed to have a good understanding of the material and did well on the assignment."
"Tonight, the student and I reviewed for his test over quadratic equations. We practiced factoring, completing the square, the quadratic formula, as well as examining applications involving vertex form and optimization, and a little complex arithmetic."
"He is a bright student that picks up on concepts quickly. We've been reviewing fractional and negative powers as well as simplifying radical expressions. I've helped him with understanding inverse functions as well as finding the domain and range of an equation. We've mostly been reviewing homework, but we've also helped prepare him for a test based off of his study guide/review packet problems."
"Today the student and I covered finding the lowest common denominator, long division, multiplication, and started on area/volume and surface area/perimeter equations. She consistently asks a lot of questions, both clarification and hypothetical, which I definitely encourage. Very insightful student!"
"We specifically covered graphing and the standard form, intercept form and the vertex form. He continues to do well and is gaining confidence rapidly."
