Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"We reviewed on two worksheets encompassing the last two sections of chapter 9 that they had worked on in class in preparation for a future quiz."
"The student had a plan when I got there for what he needed to get done, we set priorities, and then he got to work on his own. While he worked on Math, I went through his grades and was glad to see that the student did not have any work outstanding this week. Most of his grades are climbing steadily as well. After he finished his Math, I looked at it and identified four problems that he missed. He then made corrections. He did not seem to have much trouble with this lesson aside from a few calculation errors. We also spent some time with his writing. He has an essay due for his Comm Arts class and I helped him make some needed revisions. Finally, per our usual routine, we went through his binder and got organized: recycled old papers, moved others to the appropriate folder, etc. I was happy that the student initiated this time. That shows me that he sees the value in it."
"In this session, we covered adding and subtracting polynomials. Before we got to those two topics, we briefly went over combining like terms. This topic was done last week. I was refreshing his memory because the addition and subtraction of polynomials required him to combine like terms. After doing it, we started the addition of polynomials. I gave him the steps in doing these problems. He got it right away. After doing those problems, we went over the subtraction of polynomials. He was able to do them correctly. He was not struggling nor were there any concerns from this session. I did not leave him with any extra practice because he was able to do all of the problems by himself. Overall, he is doing great."
"We reviewed the student's homework assignment. It had to do with finding areas of triangles and parallelograms, and finding missing heights or side lengths."
"We worked on algebra 2 homework - specifically exponents with variables and their respective graphs. The student seems to understand the material well."
"We went through linear and absolute value equations today. He seemed comfortable with most of the material. When we went over some previous material he had issues with, he did very well on it."
