Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"Today we went over hypothesis tests for means as well as going over the general concepts related to hypothesis testing. I walked the student through an example hypothesis test and then answered questions he had. Afterwards, we reviewed confidence intervals. I assigned him eight multiple choice questions out of the review book as extra practice. Next session I will go over what he missed on his last assessment with him before going into bivariate data."
"We went over four different worksheets today! The student almost finished all of them. We worked really well together again today."
"Today we covered two main topics, the first being using table data and Riemann sums to evaluate volume. It involved thinking about volume in a more abstract way, thinking about an integral, but evaluating geometrically. The second was telescoping series, and by extension partial fractions. The student had some stumbling blocks on the partial fractions, but he understands the theory of them, and I am not worried. He is going to come up with some material for us to work on during our next session."
"The student and I reviewed multiple concepts in preparation for a quiz. We covered new material in depth (applying the fundamental theorem of calculus with the chain rule and solving simple differential equations), then reviewed applications of the first and second derivative."
"Today, we covered two new topics: solving equations involving two square roots and adding forces as vectors. Then, we went over the usual set of practice exercises, which involved multiplication of powers, powers of powers, solving quadratic equations with a formula, and various geometry problems (such as radius of a circle inscribed into a square)."
"We covered finding the quotients with negative and positive integers. We also finished another chapter and a half of the student's book. He struggled with understanding dividing negative numbers at first, but after I broke down to him how to solve the problems, he quickly got through them. He is always upbeat and motivated. I keep his confidence and attitude high with encouraging words. I told him to work on his 7 and 9 times tables. His math and reading skills are both increasing every session."
