Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"A fairly complex, multi-part, extra credit triangle problem took up the whole time. The eight parts involved use of Pythagorean theorem, angle bisector, similar triangle, and rule of sines, at least, for solution. I reviewed and discussed the problem with the student and he checked and re-checked the results. The student is now very close to an A- in the course."
"The student and I worked on circles, tangents, secants, and the angles created by those segments when they intersect inside, outside, and on the triangles, minor arcs and major arcs."
"We went through altitude and leg theorem for a triangle. Gave her a practice test to do as homework."
"In my first meeting with the student , we discussed his performance in his geometry class so far and expectations for tutoring moving forward. I helped explain a couple of concepts that he was having slight trouble grasping and assisted him in completing a worksheet. We spent the rest of our time going through the next chapter he will be covering in class, focusing on topics that he felt unfamiliar with. In future sessions, we will begin by reviewing difficult topics that he encountered over the week, then continue working ahead to help him understand things better when they are presented in class."
"The student had a test to study for - adding, subtracting, multiplying, and dividing quadratics in fractions. She did very well."
"The student has an exam tomorrow on angles (supplementary, complementary, adjacent, congruent, vertical, and linear angles), and how to solve triangles and other geometric shapes for their angle values. She was challenged at first with the terminology and setting up the problems, but once we worked through a few problems, she gained confidence and successfully set up the problems and solved them. She is a student who is eager to learn."
