Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"The student understands all the concepts that I explain to her. She is patient during the tutoring session and handles herself well. I recommend her to look up concepts that she does not understand either on the internet or refer to her textbook. These are both great resources."
"Factoring binomials. We worked on the Student's two math assignments for tomorrow - a worksheet and problems assigned by his teacher. He didn't really understand the concept of factoring at the beginning of the session, but I think he left the session feeling more prepared and better understanding the concepts he had missed in class. He mentioned he had trouble focusing in class which may have led to his misunderstanding of the material. I encouraged him to focus and ask questions when he does not understand material, both with me and in his math classes."
"The student and I reviewed the introduction to the math and science sections, and I assigned her another writing test. She scored a 3 on the writing test from last week's homework. She is also going to work on the science online."
"The student and I discussed the general format of the GRE and the appropriate strategies related to the Computer Adaptive Test model. We then discussed the Analytical Writing Tasks in detail, and techniques to prepare for this portion of the test. We also perused various preparatory resources and chose which ones we will use together. She will read appropriate portions of the prep book and begin preparing for the essays before we meet again. Overall, it was a very effective first session and she seems quite responsive to my suggestions."
"The student and I talked over and road-mapped 2 Essay Prompts for the SAT. We talked about what would make good supporting examples for these prompts and some of the strategies to make the connection between the examples and thesis sentence really tight. We also talked about how we can craft good topic sentences that will eloquently headline each body paragraph. We then spent 30 minutes going over a SAT math section. We talked about some of the processes that she can use to get to the right answer."
"The student did do two sections of a practice exam, and we used those sections to discuss a few important topics. In Logic Games, we worked on adding the second dimension (or a second entity type) to the sketch. In Logical Reasoning, we worked on question typing--which he's getting better and better at each week."
