Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"The goal for the next few sessions with this student is to prepare him for his upcoming final exam. In this specific session, we focused on chapter 4 and 5 material, and spent time on specific parts of the course that are challenging for him. In doing so, we spent a considerable amount of time on L'Hopital's rule in order to determine the limit of functions. We reviewed the product, quotient, and chain rule to take the derivatives of functions. We are meeting on Monday to continue to review in preparation for his exam."
"The student and I began to study for her cumulative final this week. We took a look at a derivative problem, and she was able to get it correct. She understands derivatives and just needs to be careful when simplifying. We then began to work on related rates problems. These might give her more of a challenge, but if she studies enough, she should be fine. We're meeting on Wednesday, and we'll continue with related rates and other topics."
"The student and I continued covering integrals, and how to set up the various equations to solve. He had a very positive attitude towards the material, and quickly realized where he was making his mistakes. We worked through old homework problems of his that he had not done well on, and now he has a much better understanding of the material, and was confident on how to solve everything."
"The student and I continued going over her homework assignment on optimization, as she has a test on Monday. She did very well and needs to have more confidence in her abilities. We then continued with some past assignments."
"The student and I continued working on her test review today. Her problems are relatively dense, so we spent a chunk of time going backwards so we could find the "right" way to solve it for her class."
"The student and I continued working on integration (u sub, inverse trig, and other techniques). We also explored applications of integrals (arc length, area, volume, and surface area) by setting up and solving definite integrals."
