Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"The session went well and the student was engaged in the material. We had time to cover a lot of material and even review some old concepts. We mostly covered order of operations, use of parentheses, areas, fractions, and word problems involving algebraic expressions."
"We worked on adding mixed fractions and how to do area and perimeter. Then the student worked on the rest of his homework."
"We began the session with some counting backwards and greater than, less than, and equal to exercises. We then played the allowance game to help get the student acclimated to money."
"We worked on polynomial functions . We looked at the end behavior and how the degree of the polynomial effects the behavior. We also looked at how the leading coefficient changes the function. We discussed similarities between functions that have odd degrees and even degrees. By the end of the session the student felt much more comfortable with the functions and graphs."
"During our session, the student and I worked on problems involving vertical motion. The student has seen this material before as it was one of the last things we studied together. To prep for this somewhat difficult material, the student and I spent some time breaking down the vertical motion equation he was given and then we worked on some examples. He breezed through the easier problems, but the more difficult ones really gave him some trouble. I told the student to do more of these problems so he can get the hang of them and to email/text/call me if he needs any help whatsoever."
"We worked on breaking down linear equations and how to solve them. We broke down complex shapes into squares, rectangles, circles and triangles. We did 8 to 12 problems on SOL review."
