Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"Today we covered recent history addressed in the student's last chapter. This included the Clinton administration and beyond. She admits that she does not know recent history at all, so all of this information was very new to her. From here on out, we will focus our sessions on gearing up for the May exam."
"We are currently practicing for the AP Exam the student takes soon. I gave her 4 essay questions and orally discussed with her how she would answer them. Her writing is pretty solid at this point, but she does need to improve on her content. She generally has at least one point to make in her essay responses, but she needs several more facts to build up the amount of content. We practiced a DBQ as well and the student continues to be solid in analyzing documents. However, here too she needs to work on content by supplying more facts. The final part of the session was spent on practicing part 1 of the AP Exam which is answering multiple choice questions based on documents."
"In our final session before the AP exam the student and I covered a review of early AP US history just to refresh her memory. She felt like she was rusty with the concepts but once we began discussing it she once again demonstrated that her content knowledge was very strong. We worked through timed practice example questions and during this timed period I pointed out that the student had much more time than she originally perceived and that she needed to pace herself with each question. I feel that the student knows her information and is aware that she has to think quickly but smartly when it comes to MC questions. With the short answer and document based questions I feel that the student will excel based on all the key terms she knows and the way in which she applies it to her arguments. I am very impressed with her and wish her all the luck when she approaches the test on Friday."
