"We used flashcards to help him focus on reading and sounds without the distraction of pictures and other words in a book. We then worked on reading words made from the flash cards and the sounds represented. I was able to identify some sounds and blends he was not comfortable with and we will practice those more frequently. I gave the student's parents the flash card set to work with him at home as well. I will be introducing more blends and sounds, as well as other reading material he has not encountered."
"We reviewed her fluency worksheet and reading homework. We read through the passage again using echo reading. We also reviewed sight words and played a few games with them. Then we read a book together that the student chose using a mix of read aloud and echo reading. I paused at key points to have her make predictions or to talk about the characters in the book. I left the sight word cards I made with her mom so that she can work on practicing with them to help her become more fluent."
"When I arrived, she brought a big pile of books to our work area. She proceeded to pick out several to read. We will also try to tackle some more challenging material, while still keeping the reading fun."
