Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"In this session, we worked on the student's upcoming class project. This project is on Pablo Escobar, a Colombian Lord Cartel. We did research on him and focused on his background, how he became powerful, and how he has affected his community while he was alive and now, since he has been dead. We wrote detailed information on those themes, and now he and his friends need to put it in a PowerPoint presentation."
"The present progressive tense and the reflexive verbs were covered today. The student practiced listening comprehension and writing. We also practiced conversation and she wrote a paragraph about her daily routine. She is doing excellent in her Spanish sessions."
"The student and I are reading through a new chapter in Leyendas del Mundo Hispano, identifying new vocabulary, defining unfamiliar words, discussing verb conjugation, and conversing about the text. The current story we are working through is "La Leyenda de la Virgen del Cobre.""
"The student and I began with a quick conversational review over the date, days of the week, months, and ordinal numbers. We are reinforcing vocabulary terms, and regularly using preterite construction in our warm-up questions. We are working together on responding using the correct subject pronoun and using the correct personal ending. Working off the sheet has helped him choose the correct conjugation when speaking. We worked on translations today, and incorporated verbs from his sheets and flashcards. I've asked him to continue to review his flashcards on his own to help build his vocabulary base."
"The student and I continued reviewing colors and numbers. We ended the day with me introducing food-related vocabulary."
"The student and I continued working on her Spanish study guide. We reviewed the simple tenses, defined new and prior vocabulary words for her exam, and she completed 12 more pages. Even though she did not start Spanish until late in the semester, she has improved tremendously in her speaking, writing, and vocabulary."
