Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"We worked on math material with both students. They both seem really comfortable with the current material. So my advice was to drop duration in future lessons down to 45 minutes each instead of 1 hour each."
"We worked on multiplicative inverse tonight. We also reviewed finding area of a circle and triangle, as well as unit multipliers. The student needs to memorize the different formulas of math, this will help his comprehension. We also studied vocabulary and Spanish."
"We worked on practice problems to help prepare for a test tomorrow. The student was very quick to pick up on any concepts presented. The last thing we worked on was the simple interest formula (and solving for variables in it), but afterwards, we spent a brief period discussing compound interest, because the student displayed interest in its applications for investing, loans, etc."
"We worked on recognizing the features of a 3D figure, such as coplanar and noncoplanar points, and intersecting lines and planes. We used a real life example (a book) and compared it to a 2D rendering of the figure."
"We worked on skills in the student's textbook in Chapter 2. He is taking Algebra II High Honors, and is benefiting from reinforcement of Algebra skills. We also began working on Algebra II, because he will be tutoring in Algebra II as he takes Algebra I in school this year."
"We worked on solving and graphing the solutions to inequalities, as well as translating verbal statements to algebraic expressions. The first question I asked was about the "one rule" for inequalities, switching the sign. She did not remember this, but when it came up in a problem, she remembered it with a little prodding. We covered her homework, and then did some additional problems. We also talked about what the graphical solution meant."
