Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"In this session, we started the normal distribution chapter. I described basic characteristics of the normal distribution, including mean, standard deviation, inflection points, empirical rule, etc. This student is a pleasure to work with. We scheduled another session to continue working on the normal distribution chapter."
"Today we tested hypotheses of linear regression. She achieved good results. She is able to understand the process better as a result!"
"Today we went over a couple of things. Mostly covered the concepts of the placebo effect, matched-pairs design, as well as repeated measures. The student was able to finish his homework. He did struggle to understand the idea behind matched pairs and how it differs from repeated measures (and how it is similar)."
"Today, I worked with him on understanding inferential statistics and also going over a few math skills and topics that he will need to know. This included mean, median, mode, frequency, percentages, and proportions. This covered the next session in his book, and we should be able to continue with the next section during our next session. I think meeting with me really helps him, because he has someone to talk through the material with, and this helps him really understand it."
"Today, the student and I worked on review of concepts and nomenclature in a multi-group statistical experiment, to compare means and variability in means between groups, using an F-distribution. Concepts were discussed using contextual examples and data. One problem relating to the use of t-distribution for comparison of sample means was also reviewed."
"Today, the student and I worked on variables and conditional probability. He seemed to have a solid grasp on the subject. He continues to stay positive. I showed him how to approach a problem that has large amounts of data. His confidence was reinforced in the subject matter."
