Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"The student and went over composite functions and their notation. At first, she didn't know how to work with composite functions at all. But by the end of our session, she was solving composite functions quickly, accurately and without much difficulty. However, she still needs practice working with negative numbers and simplifying algebraic expressions (squaring a square-root will eliminate the root)."
"Today we began acids and bases. We talked about the 3 different definitions of an acid and a base. We went through the students notes so far. We talked minimally about pH and pOH. We also reviewed the homework associated with the topics covered so far."
"The student and I had a long session today because it was the last time we met before her Physics exam tomorrow. First, we went through a couple questions she had regarding the calculations in her review packet. Next, we went through the list of possible calculation questions her teacher could give her, identified those she needed help on, and I wrote her some practice problems. Finally, we reviewed the flash cards she had made over the conceptual questions likely to appear on the exam."
"1. More review of vocabulary and grammatical concepts required to pass the Spanish 1 exam and move onto Spanish 2. 2. Completed exams for chapters 1-4 in the testing program. 3. Checked previously assigned homework. He had completed most of the assignment in the workbook. 4. Assigned homework out of the workbook--listening comprehension and defining new chapter vocabulary (Ch. 8 "Health and the doctor"). 6. Gave Mother sheets about the requirements for the program. He is still an eager learner."
"Review session with the student. I checked in on his progress in both geometry and science. We will meet again next week."
"The student did a superb job today. He brought his A-game today to tutoring, where he worked hard and well on translations that involved the reflexive pronoun and adjective (which he had trouble differentiating, at least at first; this is a common and expected difficulty for Latin learners). Terrific job today!"
