Today was the student's final session! We did more vocab review; she's doing great with the new words, but needs to review the older words. She improved pretty quickly with the older words as we reviewed more. We continued to look at reading comprehension passages, noting differences in style. We also went over a variety of math problem types -- quantitative comparison problems and their shortcuts, geometry - area vs. perimeter, strategies for strange shapes, angles and triangles, basic circle problems. She did some practice algebra problems, and we applied the concept of finding the operation that's happening in an equation (subtraction, addition, multiplication, etc.) and doing the opposite to solve for x. Finally, she did a couple of timed drills, math and verbal, and she's getting better!

Today we continued going over the practice math section and reviewing the various areas that were giving her trouble. We went over how to approach evaluation of functions questions, as well as probability and sequences questions. We also discussed how the test will be designed to have various types of questions scattered throughout the test so it is important to not get too hung up on the earlier questions in the test so that she can have enough time to do well on the later questions that she knows how to do. We also started practicing more quantitative section type questions (a is greater, b is greater etc.) and I will send a practice quantitative section over to be completed as soon as she can. For homework I have assigned the practice quantitative section, and next lesson we will go over that or continue on to more quantitative review.
