Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"For this session, the student worked on understanding and demonstrating equivalent fractions using both a number sentence and visual models. She did a great job with these exercises. She completed Lessons 7-11. Great job!"
"The student and I continued working towards attaining 8th grade math skills. He did well. We started working on his summer writing packets, and we also started reading a chapter book today. He did very well with both activities."
"The student and I have been making good progress with respect to the algebra portion for 8th grade math. We mainly focused on the largest chunk of algebra he will face, which is solving systems of equations. He had a quick grasp of the material, but he requires further practice to fully understand all the little nuances and deviations in solving equations."
"The student and I looked at probability when replacing and not replacing. Then we looked at the binomial probability formula. We also covered how to estimate a large area based on observations of a smaller part of that area."
"The student and I looked over many of the problems on the College Math 116 sample sheet. We have quite a bit of work ahead to complete a review of past material plus some College Algebra topics. We also agreed to begin an introduction to Calculus concepts. He has a great attitude and is clearly motivated and willing to work hard to achieve his goal of testing out of any more Math courses. He would like to meet 3x per week for a while. A book of sample problems and solutions would help greatly; both he and I will look for some appropriate material."
"The student and I played games to bolster math skills (addition) and spelling. We drew pictures of our activities during the past week to practice the planning skills involved in writing. We discussed the book he is reading at home and made tessellations with different shapes."
