Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"We spent the session covering equations, their graphs, and functionality. The student had a solid grasp of the main concepts within the session, but just needed a little reminder of certain tricks that can be used to make problems easier. We went through all tricks and tips concerning completing the square, identifying parallel/perpendicular lines, and transitioning between different forms of linear functions. By the end of the session, she was able to maneuver through questions with little to no issues. We spent the rest of the session going over a test retake."
"We went over parametric equations. The topics included substitution and evaluation using equations. We also went over polar coordinates and talking to his instructor about improving his grades in his classes."
"We went over partial-fraction decomposition today. This is the last unit covered for the final exam. The student expressed confidence for all the topics, so we agreed that if he encounters difficulties during this last stretch of studying, another session is possible."
"We went over Related Rates to practice for the students' quiz, then we went over max/min extrema problems again, implicit differentiation, practiced the Mean Value Theorem, and practiced finding critical points using the first derivative and setting it equal to zero. We made sign charts and tested endpoints to determine local and absolute maximums and minimums."
"We went over several proofs today. Proofs involve using all functions and identities. The student is much better at doing them than when we began, but she does not know all of her identities off hand. In order to succeed on the test, she will have to know them all. We will keep working on these."
"We went over Spanish commands (affirmative and negative) for the student. Also, we did some ACT math questions. I told her that sometimes it saves time to plug in the answers instead of trying a formal, analytical solution."
