Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"The student and I covered various problem areas that she had on her last exam, including limits of quotients as the variable approached infinity and strategies to attack those problems; applied problems such as sales functions and position, velocity, and acceleration; and more algebra problems. When using algebra, I try to express the same problem or expression in several different ways so that she can see the problem in different ways, and maybe the algebra will start to make more sense to her."
"The student and I reviewed her homework beginning with an algebra lines and planes review worksheet followed by a question on polar coordinates. She did an excellent job grasping concepts in the session and seems to have a firm understanding of the material reviewed."
"The student and I reviewed limits for his exam tomorrow. He was having difficulty knowing where to begin with solving each problem, so we practiced a few times, and I gave him a list of steps to take for solving each problem which helped a lot."
"The student and I reviewed the concept of continuity and functional notation during the session. He struggled in the beginning of the session, but towards the end, started understanding problems and making connections."
"The student and I spent most of the session covering the limit definition of a derivative, and what it means in terms of instantaneous rate of change. After she understood the limit definition we moved onto working derivatives using the power rule. We introduced the power rule, 2nd, and 3rd derivatives. The student grasps concepts quickly!"
"The student and I started to go over his practice test. There are quite a few subjects that he is unaware of that appeared on his practice test. We started by just trying to solidify derivative rules for this session."
