Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"During this session, I helped the student review all the material he has learned in his math class this semester. First, we went over his teacher's notes on geometric and arithmetic sequences, and we practiced some problems. Next, we reviewed linear, quadratic, and exponential models. I made sure he knew the differences and similarities between each, and we went over each assignment he had completed on this subject. He seemed to be familiar with most of the material, especially after reinforcing it together."
"We worked most of the session on example problems related to the rational root theorem. We also worked a word problem in which the rational root theorem could be applied."
"The student and I worked on factoring and finding the roots of cubic equations. This can be a very difficult subject for a lot of students, and she showed tremendous patience in working through the problems. By the end of the session, she was able to identify the subtle observations required to solve these types of problems, and she demonstrated a good amount of understanding with each new problem we faced."
"We reviewed a few questions the student had on slope and slope-intercept equations. We worked some additional problems with worksheets I provided. I introduced the topic of solving two linear equations by graphing. We did additional practice to reinforce these ideas. We concluded the session by understanding how to check the solutions we found by graphing two linear equations. He worked well."
"We reviewed finding perfect squares and perfect cubes. The student then completed homework assignment and then proceeded to quiz 7.1-7.3. Lastly, we moved ahead and reviewed the Pythagorean Theorem, and the student completed #1-3, 6 in section 7.3."
"We covered truth tables, equation of the regression line using means and covariance, factoring and solving, and some IB test-taking skills. The student was engaged in learning the material."
