The student broke the 90% mark on his last exam, which basically covered the Pythagorean theorem. We rehearsed another exam which is coming up shortly, rapidly coming to agreement on the answers. One word problem was awkwardly phrased but simple to solve. We also spent a bit of the time reviewing dilutions and molarity for his Chemistry course.

The student's school is letting them retake tests so we just did a review of quadratics. He has definitely improved his understanding of quadratics since we started, so he didn't even need much review. We went over completing the square, the quadratic formula, factoring and unFOILing and solving algebraically by taking the square root.

We went over the student's geometry and chemistry work. We first went over the student's geometry homework involving similar triangles. We then went over the student's upcoming chemistry work involving balancing equations. We did some extra practice problems in order to help the student understand the concepts. We then went ahead to the next homework assignment in geometry, still involving similar triangles and proportionality. Overall, the student showed great improvement.

In this session, we did proportions of polygons. We did side lengths, perimeter, and area proportions. The student did a great job in setting up all her proportions correctly. One thing she can improve upon is her mental math. She usually uses a calculator for all her calculations, even simple ones. I am trying to encourage her to use it less to sharpen her quick computational skills.

Worked with the student on rules for circles, tangents, and secants for her test. She understands the concepts well, and just needed to go over more advanced questions again. Also will work with her on her midterm later this week.

The session went very well. The student and I covered generalized mathematics and science. He is progressing very well for someone in his age group. He is well ahead of the pack and should be proud of the work he has accomplished. I look forward to our next session.
