We went over some vocabulary words and worked through analogies and reading.  I talked with her a little about where she was struggling the most when taking the test and I tried to concentrate on those areas.  Math wise she seemed sure of what she knew and what she didn't which is good.

In our last session, the student practiced timed math sections to remind her of the pace at which she will need to work. She did a very good job, finishing all but three or four each time and getting most of them correct. I am confident that she will raise her scores significantly on tomorrow's test.

Covered first two or three plant lectures presented in class. Topics included basic plant info-- monocots vs dicots, xylem vs phloem, water transport, and potential. I think the student has a better grasp on the topics she was presented during lecture. She said that a guest lecturer, a botanist, is facilitating this section of the semester. Although this can be a great resource in the lecture hall it can also be daunting to have such an expert presenting the material. I think meeting one-on-one to review and get a different perspective on the topics will continue to help.

We went through a mini grammar basics lesson, discussing the types of sentences and how they are formed, clarifying punctuation rules as a part of that. We then moved on to the reading section she completed for homework, and discussed additional ways to annotate effectively. She is competent at underlining important concepts as she reads. Overall, she shows a very strong grasp of the material, especially reading comprehension, but tends to rush through things.

We covered basic asset-liability management. The student had a grasp of the general task, but in a couple cases needed to dig deeper into the information being presented in the problem. We will also review using options on interest-rate sensitive assets (options on bonds). I imagine the class will cover duration (bond duration and portfolio duration), so she will also read that area, because it will surely come up again.
