Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"We covered exponents and reviewed all the first several chapters of the textbook for the student's upcoming final."
"Our session today was used to get ready for a test the next day. We worked on exponents and logarithms."
"Today the student worked on her math problems. I also worked with her brother, who worked on subtraction and word problems."
"Today we covered slope intercept form, proportions, and unit rate. I challenged the student by giving him word problems that utilized equations that were in slope intercept form. These word problems included real world concepts like speed v. time and population growth v. time. He was able to understand how this equation was used outside of a purely mathematical context. Today's session was very productive."
"Today, we did some practice problems with multi-step equations (as well as gave a brief introduction into exponents) while also covering horizontal and vertical shifts while graphing (so, movement involved from y=x to y=x+3). This upcoming session, we'll cover the topics the student will have for her test on Friday while also starting to go over her past tests. We may cover some mental math practice for the future, but for now, she understands the topics well, which is evident from her score on the test on Friday (95). Great job so far, and congratulations on the excellent score!"
"The student was preparing for a summative exam scheduled for Tuesday. She worked on the review packet provided by her teacher. The topics were regarding linear functions: finding slopes from graph, with two points, and from equations. We reviewed graphing, finding both x and y intercepts and rewriting equations in slope intercept form. She understands this section and is very confident regarding her upcoming exam."
