Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"We went over his homework, which covered confidence intervals, hypothesis testing and 2-sample testing as well as chi-squared contingency tests. It went well."
"We went through many probability and statistics questions. Some of the topics included the cdf and pdf for the binomial and Poisson distributions, recovering probabilities and x and z-values from the normal distributions, computing z-values, and conditional probabilities. The student is quick at picking up the required methodologies of the problems."
"We went through the final practice questions to prepare for the student's final. The questions covered independent T test, correlation, and ANOVA. After we finished those questions, we did a transformation on the data and redid a few questions for additional practice. He had trouble with the write up on interpreting which groups were different from the ANOVA test. He thought he could look solely at the group means because the provided answers didn't mention LSD or HSD. I explained why looking at the group means was not satisfactory and why you have to use LSD or HSD even though it wasn't mentioned in the answer. We finished those pretty quickly, so I made up questions on Two sample T test, one sample T test, and correlation."
"We were able to work on set theory and Venn diagrams together. The student seems to not have the strongest background in this information, but he follows quickly and is ready to work. We worked specifically on determining the values of different sets based on unions and intersections, and he did well. Will meet on Thursday."
"We worked on ANOVA, pooled t-tests, and residuals. The student works independently on most tasks and demonstrates a solid understanding of the concepts. The student has reported more confidence and understanding of the material since last session. I encouraged the student to further discuss residuals with her teacher, especially in regard to how to create a residual plot in the JMP program used for the class."
"We worked on finishing up the last of her assignments for her stats class. She had done most of the work on her own we just worked through the last few online assignments. She still needs to type of up a few of the written projects, but she will complete that on her own."
