Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"On the day before her exam, we repeatedly worked on more probability problems for extra practice and to make sure that she was ready. I saw great progress from Monday when we first covered the material to Wednesday, the day before her test. She seemed to grasp the information well and I felt as if she was adequately prepared to make a good score on her exam."
"The student had homework covering vectors. He understood the easier ones that just asked him to add the vectors or to take the magnitude of them. He had no trouble with the harder vector problems that used two vectors!"
"The student wanted to review some concepts in 3D, particularly 3D equation of a sphere, as well as operations on 3D vectors. I had to clarify some vector notation, such as denoting the magnitude of a vector. We covered the definition of the dot product and cross product. We used example problems from her book to use the definition of these operations to find the angle between two vectors or the projection of one vector onto the other."
"The student finished his Trig applications homework and then we reviewed several end-of-chapter review problems (he was happy to see that each chapter had a chapter test and review with solutions). His main concern is the applications, yet he was able to complete many of the problems on his own. He just needed a few hints to get started or to complete the problem. He said he'd do some of the chapter test problems and review problems for more review. I have access to his online textbook and I hope to have access to future worksheets and solutions asap when he gets them. I look forward to our next session!"
"The session went well. The student is a very bright student and I get along with him very well. The focus of the session was on arithmetic and geometric sequences. We went over how to create explicit rules, recursive rules, and finding the sum of both finite and infinite series. He was confused about some things at first but once I explained everything to him he understood it very well, and was almost solving the problems faster than I was by the end of the session!"
"The student completed his homework due tomorrow. We decided to review earlier chapters. We started on chapter 1 and went through as many review problems as we could do. For next time, he will go through earlier chapters and have questions ready so we can go over anything he has questions on or wants to review."
