Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"We went over the student's recent test involving conics and did test corrections. We then went over his chemistry work involving chemical reactions. We went over classifications of reactions (such as double replacement or synthesis) and how to balance reactions. We also reviewed how to put together ionic molecules based on their charges. Overall, the student seemed to understand the material well."
"We worked on Section 6.5 covering material such as graph of parametric functions, cosine, sine, limacons and rose petals functions."
"The student worked on homework for 1 hour of the session. He needed help with pre-calculus and physics."
"During this session, we focused on talking about combinations of functions (for instance, f(g(x))). Since there was an upcoming test, we worked on reviewing a wide variety of topics from the previous chapter, and worked on a range of types of problems."
"Today we reviewed graphing trigonometric functions and working with triangles to solve composition of functions questions. The student seems to have a pretty good grasp on the material."
"The student is going over parabolas, hyperbolas, and ellipses in her pre-calculus class. Today, we covered the definition of the focus and directrix of a parabola and applied it to a problem from her textbook. We also went over how to find the equation of a parabola using an arbitrarily chosen point, the coordinates of the focal point and the directrix. The textbook problem wasn't easy, as it was not based in the coordinate system, so you had to choose an arbitrary coordinate point for the focal point of the parabola. However, the student seemed to understand the concept once I explained it. Next time, we will be covering ellipses and hyperbolas."
