"During our time together, the student and I worked on her algebra two and chemistry homework. For her algebra two homework, we worked on a worksheet that covered properties of logarithms. To understand this concept better, we completed many worksheets that all were assigned for homework. At the end of our time together she fully completed her math homework. Upon completing her math homework, we went on and worked on chemistry. For her chemistry homework, we worked on labs as well as one worksheet that covered state changes. The student clearly understood this material in both math and chemistry, and has assessments in both of those classes this upcoming week: chemistry has a quiz on Wednesday and then algebra has a test on Friday."
"In this session we worked on catching up on some topics that the student missed during the week, mainly, nanotechnology. We read through two articles on new technology that the teacher assigned and he was able to answer questions along with giving an opinion on what direction researchers should take next to improve that technology. We then stepped back into test prep for his final and also finished his essay outline. The session went very well and he continues to retain the information from previous sessions while we build to new topics."
"Today the student and I worked on bonding, Lewis dot structures, dash structures, and molecular geometry. I then left the student with supplemental review materials before ending the session."
"We did quite a bit of quantum chemistry, discussed black body radiation, the Schrodinger equation, Bohr model, energy states, wave particle duality, electron spin quantum numbers, exclusion principles, electron configurations, but mostly focused on conceptual questions from a practice exam."
"Today we spent most of the session on chemistry because of the student's test tomorrow. We reviewed mole conversions and practiced multi-step conversions, at which he did well. We also briefly reviewed molar volume, ion naming, and a bit of this math homework (inequalities and absolute values)."
"Today, we focused on understanding the periodic table and certain concepts such as atomic number, mass number, atomic mass, and atom theory. We went over how to name compounds, understanding anions, cations and ionic and molecular compounds. He definitely picked up the concepts quickly. For next time, I'll give him a quiz in preparation for his exam Saturday."
