Session Summaries by LSAT Tutors

Racine, WI LSAT tutoring
In today's session we completed two CARS passages and two next step passages. The student has really come along, and his scores are showing. I set today up as more of a competitive session where I kept score of how he was doing. He did very well in technique and score. The few he got wrong, we pretty clearly identified were from not answering with specific evidence, which he otherwise did very well. Going forward until the test, I will continue to set up this competitive environment to help simulate test day.

Today, we went over a few passages that were challenging for the student when she did her practice test. Then, she did 2 passages from Test 5 (Passages 3 and 4). I would advise that she look over our session notes to review everything we have covered, and to practice highlighting and identifying traps. Other than that, continue with practice passages and reading the difficult book.

We started off by looking at biology topics in anatomy and physiology of the heart and renal system. Within the circulatory system, we looked at ways to remember the path of blood flow, differences and similarities in anatomic structures (ex. vein versus artery composition), and electrical conduction. For the renal system, we looked at both the movement of ions and molecules into and out of the filtrate, gross anatomical structure, and particular impacts of hormones (ADH/ vasopressin). Then we moved onto organic chemistry, where we used DAT destroyer to look at carboxylic acid derivative reactions and relationships, NMR (carbon and proton), and multiple reaction schemes.
