Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"Today we finished up the reading section with a practice set of questions and worked on essay section. Worked through brainstorming, organizing and outlining and finally writing a sample essay. The student did well. Her biggest problem was with elaborating on her examples."
"Reviewed test taking techniques and focused on improving the student's reading comprehension test taking ability, as well as improving the student's understanding of the multiple choice writing section of the test, in which sentences are revised by the student."
"Today the student worked on her Physics homework, which was a question sheet on center of gravity, center of mass, and toppling. I didn't notice her having any problems with the material so we moved on to Algebra once the homework was complete. In Algebra we worked on her homework initially, and after that we started working on chapters 5.1, 5.2 and 5.3, which might be the material examined in her next test. These chapters relate to finding the equation of a line when only the slope and y-intercept are known, finding the equation of a line when a slope and a point other than the y-intercept are known, and finding the equation of a line when only 2 points are known. We went over the material, and she solved the examples given in the book. Finally, she solved most of the problems given in the book homework."
"During today's session, I helped the student review for her Chapter 8 test on Thursday. Topics included solving systems of equations and their real world applications using substitution or elimination. We also reviewed Chapter 7, which included graphing functions, solving functions, and finding the domain and range of functions."
"The student and I went over her last practice test, reviewing the answers she missed and discussing how to fine tune her essay. We further went over functions."
"We worked on nouns, their declensions, and irregularities. We also did a few of exercises on these subjects. We also went over some of the sentence practice in the workbook and tried similar constructions without the book. Finally, we looked at and read through a poem by Goethe and discussed some of the vocabulary and archaic/allusive language."
