Tutoring review by Nicholas in Brown Deer, WI
We spent most of the time going over his homework on inequalities. He is definitely not as bad at math as he thinks he is; he simply has trouble remembering some of the rules and hasn't worked out how to apply them. I believe the format he uses for solving equations may also be making his work harder than it needs to be, but regular practice will show more of what areas there are to improve.

Tutoring review by Christine in Brown Deer, WI
The student has two finals, geometry and chemistry, scheduled for tomorrow that we have been studying for in our sessions. We continued to prepare for the exams this evening, starting with geometry. We made sure he understood all problem types on the study guide that his teacher had provided. The student seemed very confident in geometry and wanted to focus most of the time on chemistry. We practiced balancing equations, solving for limiting reactants, naming compounds, figuring out element charges, electron configuration, redox reaction balancing, and many other concepts. The student seemed very confident with the material and I gave him some last minute tips in preparation for tomorrow's exams.

The student and I went through her Final Exam review packet. We covered topics from the beginning of the semester, mostly including equations of conic sections, as she has a good handle on the more recent material. While reviewing the problems and revisiting the concepts, she started to remember the material well. I advised her to continue practicing and practicing as her challenge is in retaining the concepts, not in understanding them.

Tutoring review by Aunaly in Brown Deer, WI
We started with the student working through a remainder of the student's worksheet. The problems asked him so solve for an angle given two angles in a triangle. We then moved on to his homework that is due tomorrow. These problems focused on finding the sum of the angles in a polygon using (n-2)180 as the general formula. We reviewed the formula and then worked on applying it to the problems. Some of the problems showed a polygon with variables for the angles and asked him to solve for the variables. These first required him to find the total of the angles in the polygon, find and equation for the variable using the sum of the angles, and then solve for the variable. We ended by reviewing how to write a conclusion for his biology lab reports. We walked through each of the steps and how to connect ideas from each of them in the context of the lab he is currently working on.

We started with another online practice PSAT quiz and the student got another 100% on it. We then spent the rest of the time reviewing for a test he has this week over geometrical proofs. There were six main types of proofs to know and we went over each one. He even had a few ideas on how to attack each proof that I didn't think of right away.
