Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"The student and I did some English practice. We also did a few Reading passages. I wanted to see how he did on Science, so I had him do a couple passages. He definitely seems strong in Science. Next time he requested we look at coordinate and plane Geometry."
"The student and I completed just over half of a lesson about applications of ellipses and hyperbolas today. If we can keep our pace up, he will have the course finished soon."
"We reviewed the graphical meaning of integrals and integration techniques, including how to evaluate definite integrals. This touched on all the basics of these topics, as well as, previewing the next technique that they're supposed to cover in class."
"The student and I went over homework from chapter nine involving conservation of linear momentum. The most difficult questions were those that involved elastic collisions, in which both momentum and kinetic energy are conserved. We also spend a little time on properties of sequences and series in calculus."
"Today we started with covering the most common relationships in analogies. The key to analogies is identifying the relationships between the word sets. By knowing the most commonly used types of relationships and associated sentences, she will be better able to solve analogy problems. We also talked about the different types of graphs and what each tells about the data. I had the student make a bar graph and a line graph to fully understand the process of how the data is made into the graph. We then did a lot of practice problems on interpreting graphs how to find information and draw conclusions from them."
"We exclusively covered organic chemistry for this session, and as a result we completed organic chemistry passages from her MCAT review book. Overall, I felt that she was quite strong with some of the passage-based questions that we went over. I instructed her to please complete additional organic chemistry passages in the other review book in order to strengthen her content base even more, along with her ability to analyze organic passages in an MCAT format."
