How can a Chemistry tutor help you?

Chemistry is the study of why and how substances separate or combine to create other substances, how energy interacts with those substances, and matter and its properties. The understanding of basic chemistry is critical for almost all professions, not just nurses and doctors. Basic chemistry also lays the foundation for more advanced chemistry courses, such as environmental chemistry and agricultural chemistry. If you find that you are struggling to understand the basics of chemistry, Varsity Tutors can connect you with an expert chemistry tutor in Providence who could help you gain the knowledge you need to do well in the course and all future chemistry-related courses.

An expert tutor in Providence, RI, can plan engaging study sessions with your interests in mind, so you can enjoy learning about chemistry. Once Varsity Tutors has connected you with a chemistry tutor, he or she will meet with you to discuss your challenges, concerns, and goals. This one-on-one meeting can take place at your home or another location of your choice, such as a local library or coffee shop. You even have the option to meet with your tutor online through our face-to-face live learning platform. Once your strengths and weaknesses have been assessed, your tutor will create a lesson plan for you. The lesson plan will be targeted towards the concepts and areas of chemistry that you struggle with the most. However, if you would like to review material that you have already understood, that can be added to the lessons, too. You could be given the full ability to control your tutoring experience.

Today, the student and I went over organic chemistry instead of physics. We spent a large chunk of the time going over the various types of addition reactions and how electrons are donated to an electrophile. The student was having a little trouble viewing the two dimensional pictures in three dimensions. He thought that he could get it with more practice. We talked about diastereomers, threomers, erythreomers, and sterocenters.

We covered bonding, molecular structure, functional groups, formal charge, and naming molecules. While I haven't seen her first exam score yet, she says that she felt confident during the exam thanks to our previous session. She struggled mainly with the naming conventions of carboxylic acids and esters, but she started picking up on it by the end. I have emailed the student a review sheet.

Providence, RI Chemistry tutoring
The student had a great attitude toward the materials we covered tonight. With some guidance he was able to reason through the practice questions and get to the answers. Conceptually, I think he has a firm understanding of Le Chatelier's principle, equilibria and the use of phase diagrams. The student mentioned that he reviews/reads over the materials in preparation for his bigger exams but does not spend as much time practicing problem sets. I encouraged him to use more practice questions as a way of better preparing for these bigger exams.
