Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"This was a pretty good afternoon session. We worked on more inequalities and the student was able to master enough inequality concepts to improve his performance score. He really gained some good ground today with single variable math."
"We continued our review for his upcoming final. Most of our time was spent covering arc length and trig substitution problems, working out the finer details and remembering which trig identities to use in which situations. We'll be finishing our review on Thursday right before his exam."
"The student's AP Calculus exam is in a week, and this week she had a practice exam. We worked through 30 problems, and she understood how to complete all of them. The main strategies I focused on were double-checking answers, identifying the elements of the problems, and writing out every step. She got every single problem correct without much trouble, and only needed explanation on a few."
"Today we went over how to find the characteristics of a parabola from a given equation. From this, we saw how to use those characteristics to sketch a graph of a parabola. We also discussed our final few sessions regarding times and materials to cover."
"Today, we continued to work on the study guide for the upcoming algebra exam. We focused on solving word problems using substitution, multiplying complex numbers, and working with logarithms. The student is going to continue working through the study guide in order to find which particular topics require the most attention tomorrow."
"Today, the student and I went over science fundamentals, sales tax, percent problems, word problems, probability and the fundamental counting theorem. He did very well with the probability, science fundamentals and word problems, but he had some difficulty with the more advanced concepts such as the fundamental counting theorem. However, he picked up these concepts quickly after I worked through some problems with him. I also assigned him some PSAT questions to work on his own, which we went over in detail."
