Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"The student kept working on their packets tonight. One student had questions left on prisms, circles, and probability. The other had questions left on prisms and probability. The thing for her to keep in mind was knowing which prism she was working on. They had many of the same questions left, making this session easier to manage. After they completed the packets, we went over some history of WWI so one student could complete an outline for a paper. Both felt prepared for their math tests by the end of the session."
"We covered geometry and logical statements and I explained the exterior angle of a triangle is equal to the sum of the two remote angles. Included the strategy of switching the statements with an converse, negating both of them with an inverse, and both switching and negating with a contrapositive."
"The student completed his study guide for his free-response geometry test. After he finished that, we started work on his study guide for the multiple-choice geometry test. He started to stress out about his upcoming finals. I told him to break it into smaller chunks and just focus on the tests for the following day. This seemed to calm him down."
"This session was a review for her upcoming final. She chose some problems from her study guide. We found area of circles, and sectors. Then we solved triangles using law of cosine and law of sines. Another thing we did was prove trig identities. A lot of these exercises were concepts before I started helping her. Proofs were also done and the student remembered those concepts after a little reminding. She did a great job remembering these concepts from the beginning of the spring. The next two sessions will be focused on this review to get her prepared for the exam. Great job!"
"For today's tutoring session, we started an intensive review for the student's exam. For this tutoring session, we reviewed over the concepts of circles and finding inscribed angles, arc length and degree, and the measurements of the circumference and area. We did a little bit of review over the Sine, Cosine, and Tangent and we will do further review on that tomorrow. The student wants to do more review on Sine, Cosine, and Tangent."
"The student and I finished going through Chapter 8. It is one of the harder chapters, so it took longer to go through as I wanted to make sure he understood it. We took a quick look at the basic transformations in the beginning of Chapter 9. Since he's doing review in class now, too, I'm hoping we'll be able to focus in more on the sections that he's struggling with specifically."
