Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"In this lesson we covered material for the semester exam. We went over simplifying radicals, simplifying fractions with radicals on the denominator and multiplying radicals. We also reviewed graphing inequalities, power rules and graphing polynomials. The student had a great attitude toward this lesson. I left her with her study guide to complete to review for next session."
"This session I gave her a practice algebra assessment exam for her to complete. For majority of the session that is what she did. Then at the end we went over her answers. She did pretty well on it."
"Today we continued our review of exponential functions and then went over sequences. We completed lots of practice from the prep book. I encouraged the student to locate her previous quizzes on exponential functions and sequences, and review the missed problems before her quiz on Thursday."
"We went over a review booklet for the student's end of grade test. I suggested for her to bring her math booklets that we worked on in the past so we could have easy reference material for the review. We will work on more reviews next session."
"Today, the student and I used his review sheet to help prepare for his final exam on Tuesday. I expected him to have the sheet completed for today's lesson, and he had most of it done. He had some difficulty with elimination but grasped/ remembered the concept once we reviewed it. He also needed a refresher with scientific notation, but also caught on very quickly. Overall, it was a great session (probably our best so far). He knows the material, and just needs to work carefully and slowly to make sure he doesn't make any mistakes with arithmetic"
"We covered area, volume, and surface areas of circles; the meaning of pi; setting up and solving proportional relationships, such as actual sizes of objects given scale factors for a map and map dimensions; percentage problems; and solving for interest. The student was having difficulty with the proportions at first, and solving some of the percent problems, but she was getting the hang of it after we went over several of those types of problems. We worked through problems in her sample final. She definitely needs to rework the problems we went over on her own, and the other problems in the sample final. Next week we can go over it."
