Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"Tonight, the student and I worked through a practice exam, in preparation for her final this week. For the most part, the questions focused on comparative advantage, PPFs, and changes in (quantity) supplied and demanded."
"Today we went over inflation, Fisher effect, inflation tax, menu costs, shoe leather costs, money velocity, money supply, money quantity theory, classical dichotomy, and interest income taxation. The student should continue to practice working with the formulas and understanding what the values mean."
"The student and I had a good session and first we reviewed a discussion question related to Bitcoin, what it is and how it is considered an alternative form of currency (or "cyber currency") , how the Federal Reserve recognizes Bitcoin and how its use can impact the money supply and policy decisions. I shared several references and details to assist her in completing the questions. We then reviewed a number of sample questions related to money, the money supply, the balance sheet of banks (and how they are affected by deposits, etc.) as well as the reserve requirement, excess vs. required reserves, and the deposit multiplier. She had a good understanding of the concepts."
"The student and I looked at her civics curriculum and planned out interview questions for the upcoming interview she'll have. I helped her with any of the questions that she still had problems with from last week."
"The student and I met today and are meeting again tomorrow morning. Things are going well. We finished going through the practice final which was curiously absent of Time Series questions, and so then studied for that by going over his most previous homework. He's moving through concepts at a very good level at this point, with less hesitancy, and more surety. It would be exhaustive to discuss everything that we covered, but it is suffice to say that he and I are covering pretty much all of a fairly difficult econometrics course. We're focusing on the concepts that have been stressed in previous exams, and I believe this will serve him well on the final. We are meeting again tomorrow morning, the morning of his final."
"The student and I reviewed basically all the components behind/ underlying equilibrium economics and the assumptions in IS/ LM and AS/ AD modeling, particularly in the context of the effectiveness of monetary and fiscal policy. He has more work to do and we will meet in a week."
