"We worked on homework for section 42 which deals with proving triangles congruent using SSS and SAS. He understands the material and loaned me one of his two copies of his book. So I have enough material to create a practice quiz before his next quiz. In his class, the teacher hands out "big list" forms which the student fills in with definitions, postulates and theorems. The student told me that he can use these big lists during quizzes and perhaps on exams. Since he can use these big lists during quizzes, he will fill in the blanks and I will also filling in the blanks and we will compare our big lists."
"For this session, the student and I covered the same subject material from the previous session. We continued to practice multiplication from her homework assignment and practiced her tables from each number."
"During this session, we started out by looking at a warmup quiz. We went over a long division problem, a multiplication problem with decimals, and a word problem with fractions. We also covered some math vocabulary that was part of her homework and simplifying fractions."

I showed the student how and when to properly distribute and he practiced with examples distributing a one term expression into a binomial. I also showed him how to factor expressions. He then practiced factoring simple two and three term expressions."

She was able to build an understanding that 10 1's equaled 1 10's bar and the same for 100's. We first worked on a few sample problems I created and then she was asked to build her own representation of a number I told her to create. We are going to continue working on the same skills next week but possibly moving to a pictorial creation."

"The student and I worked on horizontal, vertical, and oblique asymptotes in rational functions. His teacher had not covered the section yet, so we were working ahead on the homework assignments. He understood the methods for determining vertical and horizontal asymptotes, and later was able to understand oblique asymptotes. He was able to determine the slope of the oblique. We agreed to work through the problems that he could do, and to continue after having the subject covered in class."
