Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"Before we began the lesson, I discussed with the student her goals for this class, what prompted her to take AP Statistics in the first place, and how she saw it fitting into her future. She is going to major in Food Science; statistics and biology are part of her core curriculum. We agreed that we're going to view this class as good preparation for her college course. We spent the remainder of the session creating index cards for Confidence Interval testing. I asked the student to memorize those cards and complete one of her extra credit problems relating to CI's prior to our next session on Wednesday, when we'll do the same for significance tests."
"The student and I discussed his assignments. We discussed his project concerning proportions and scaling."
"We discussed concepts of greatest common factor, factoring by grouping, sum of cubes, difference of cubes, and difference of squares. We applied these concepts to practice problems from the homework."
"For this session we were reviewing for the student's final exam. He had a few different packets that were partially done that we went through and did additional examples as well. We did a lot of work with logarithms and transforming equations, and some work with matrices."
"The student and I worked on SAT Bio prep. We completed 80 AP style questions covering Chaps 1-20. The student got the vast majority correct. We reviewed element of genetics, cell bio, and metabolism."
"Tonight, I helped the student prepare for her final exam this week. This included assembling a reference sheet with most of the important formulas and identities of the past semester, as well as reviewing a few concepts such as trig proofs, inverse functions, completing the square, and using the half-angle formulas. After we finished, she said her fears about the exam were gone."
