Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"Today the student and I worked on making flashcards for her World History class. We were able to get through all of the notes and made flashcards for chapters 7.1 - 8.5. After we finished making the flashcards, I quizzed her on as many as I could before she had to leave. She definitely should review all the flashcards tonight."
"The student and I continued working on his review packet for his upcoming final. We accomplished a lot this session. He has a great attitude and is eager to help. There is a lot of material. I am concerned with the amount of information he needs to know in a short period of time. I will focus more on his study habits next session. Overall, it was a productive session."
"The student and I met on Sunday and worked on reviewing his chapters on World War I in order to get ready for his test. I worked with him on improving his multiple choice test taking skills, and I also instructed him on a study plan for his exam."
"Today we covered Liberalism, from Adam Smith to Keynes to Friedman to Reagan/Thatcher. We discussed Liberalism and Capitalism in depth from a theoretical perspective and spent most of our "practical" time on Smith and Keynes. The student should read the textbook section about post-WWII Bretton Woods institutions and also review some of the specific critiques of Neoliberalism."
"We did a review of phonetic sounds and covered the six persons in Spanish and the conjugation of the three regular verb groups in the present tense. The student was struggling with some of the phonetic sounds like the vowels and the Spanish "r." He seemed clear on the vowel sounds when we ended but the "r" will take practice. He was very engaged. I taught him to use mnemonic devices to remember the material and practice to learn the verb conjugation rules. I left him with three verbs from each verb group to practice in the present tense. No grades today. I think we had a good connection and that he grasped how to make the phonetic sounds, as well as the rules of conjugation."
"We reviewed the student's most recent practice test. She scored much higher on this one than the one before. We're going to continue to work/practice so as to not only maintain this high score, but ensure that the student has the confidence to score this well during the test in September."
