Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"I gave the student some problems involving multiplication of decimals and percentages of larger numbers. I reviewed methods by which to tell if a multi-digit number is divisible by a single digit number. I gave him an exercise in determining prime factors of numbers. We also covered conversion of Fahrenheit to Celsius and vice versa. I gave him feedback, and later discussed the lesson with his mother."
"I had given the student hard long division problems to work on and figure out, and she did well with them. It seems that each time I go there's less and less to do, which is good because it means she feels comfortable doing a lot. I had asked her to show me some of the work she has been doing in her classes for our next session."
"I have been working with the student on finite mathematics. We found a set of practice questions to work on and we have been going through them. He will be taking the math entrance exam shortly."
"I helped the student complete a review of her math homework, where she modeled how to balance equations and then checked the solutions by substituting back into the equation. She had a great attitude and worked hard. She said she felt better about the work and understood it before we ended our session."
"I helped the student complete a review on dividing polynomials and solving rational equations. I let him work the problems on his own, and only if needed, I intervened and pointed out his mistake. For the most part, he was able to find his mistake on his own. He then completed an assignment on rational equation word problems. Once I showed him how to do the first one, he got the hang of it. There were a few problems that were more challenging, which I had to walk him through. He was able to do the easy ones without help."
"I helped the student make sure he felt confident with ratios and scale drawings for his test on Tuesday. He remembered a lot of what we had worked on previously, and I just had to remind him to slow down and simplify his ratios. He felt really confident at the end of our session."
