Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"The student and I worked on review questions for an upcoming test (12/1) for her. The questions involved evaluating inverse trigonometric functions, determining the quadrant of terminal rays (with given trig conditions), simplifying trig expressions, and finding the missing angles and sides of a triangle (using the law of cosines and sines) to eventually find the area of the triangle. She needs to revise all the identities and theorems for trigonometric functions to be well prepared for her test tomorrow."
"The student understood most of his material, and feels confident for his final. We reviewed conics, including parabolic, hyperbolic, ellipses, and circular functions. We found all the criteria and critical points on each of these graphs. We also completed the square on all of these functions. He understood how to complete the square."
"The student wanted help graphing trigonometric functions, given some information about the graphs. Then she had to find the equation of the function, using information from the graph, such as amplitude, period, shifts, and compresses or stretches. We then interpreted them in word problems. She then worked every problem she had without need of assistance."
"The student wanted to figure out how to tackle trigonometric problems and how to figure out which identity to use for different applications. I was able to demonstrate the use of some of the identities for particular types of problems."
"The student wanted to review concepts concerning vector application questions and parametric equations. I provided examples that suited what she desired and helped explain the concepts as well as the mathematics. After the session, I sent her some links to practice more problems."
"The student wanted to review the law of cosines for her upcoming quiz, so we went over her notes and a few HW problems briefly. She understood how to manipulate equations when given certain information, how to label triangles correctly, and how to use inverse cosine to find angles. We also reviewed vectors, law of sines, and Heron's formula. Overall, she did a great job with the material and feels confident for her quiz."
