Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"I helped the student go over an assignment on simplifying complex expressions. We then worked on a quiz that was a review for the test the next day. He did well on it. He had no idea how to do the domain problems to start with. By the end, those were the easiest ones for him. When the quiz was scored, we went back over the questions that were incorrect and figured out the mistakes. He definitely improved throughout the session."
"I helped the student with how to complete the square and worked with quadratic equations. I also reviewed factoring and putting the equation in different forms. After going over his packet that talks about other sections he felt better and understood the material. I wrote down a couple of rules to make sure he follows."
"I introduced the multiplication of fractions to the student. Explanations were provided using charts and relating them to the method of inverting the second fraction and multiplying. The student was able to complete 8 problems successfully. At the end of the lesson, a review of the basic operations involving fractions was done. In the next session, the student will be introduced to decimals."
"I introduced the student to variables, order of operations, and exponents, which she was very excited to learn about."
"I looked over the student's science homework to make sure it was correct. I also checked his math worksheets (he had 4 to complete) and had him correct any problems he did incorrectly. He finished his homework, which included problems with percent difference and percent errors. He has a quiz coming up, so we made sure he understood the concepts and formulas."
"I made up some more practice problems for the student to hone his skills and get ready for the math test. He understands this material very well. The word problems and different phrasing may continue to be a challenge for him--he understands material when it's repetitive, but tends to lose confidence when he sees it in an unfamiliar context or wording. I think he's going to do well though. Good luck!"
