Today, we covered Pascal's triangle, the binomial theorem and factorials. The student understood the concepts, but needed clarification on what a factorial is and what to input into the binomial theorem. After reviewing this material, we spoke briefly about her next history test. She had questions about the different European explorers, their routes to the Americas and the impact that the European conquest had on the Americas and Europe. Overall, she seems to be doing quite well in both math and history.

We first went over the material he most recently learned -- mean, median, and mode as well as problem solving in chapter 7. He clearly had a strong grasp on mean, median, and mode, so we worked on the problem solving which was all word problems, a known issue. So we looked at different ways to read these problems, think about them, and solve them. We went over problems that he missed in past homework assignments. We learned to properly read a protractor and how to estimate an angle based on if it is acute or obtuse. We developed a strategy for more clearly lining up our numbers when performing long division since it seems he makes simple mistakes here. We also covered fraction addition and place values a bit.
