Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"I had the student attempt 14 AP problems on his own before helping him out. We reviewed the ones he got wrong and discussed what went wrong or how to start the problem. Things he needs to work on from this session are inverse functions and concavity."
"The student and I worked on his integration packet today. This included the definition of an integral, areas under curves, and calculating definite integrals. He is doing very well, and just needs a couple hints in the right directions in order to figure out problems."
"The purpose of this session is to have a review how to get higher derivatives and its use in combination with the derivative rules for addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, and implicit functions. We did many practice exercises from the textbook. She told me she understood everything and seemed to be more confident in solving these problems. Overall the wins from this session is that the student had a better understanding of how to find higher derivatives of functions."
"The student and I talked more about integration by parts, and we went over the tabular version for when the process needs to be repeated. We also discussed when to apply substitution vs. integration by parts and constants associated with implicit substitution."
"The student and I covered a lot of the concepts we had been reviewing in the past. This included the derivative and integral of exponential and logarithmic functions. She did very well going through each kind of problem. She had a little bit of trouble going through the chain rule when taking the derivative of an exponent. We'll work on this in our next session."
"Today the student and I focused on related rates problems. We went through problems that involved changes in volume, surface area, and lengths and widths of various objects. On the first few problems, he needed some reminders as to how to get started, but he became more comfortable with working through them as the session progressed. Nice work, and see you next week!"
