Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"The student and I went through her lecture slides on DNA, transcription, and translation. We went through all of the questions she had on the PowerPoint, so we clarified many concepts. On Thursday, once she is back at school (she is home for fall break at the moment), we will work on some practice problems from her textbook to complement the conceptual work we have been doing with her PowerPoints."
"The student and I went through more of her study guide as well as a couple of her homework questions. The material we went over today included electron configuration, orbital diagrams, noble gas configuration, isoelectronic atoms, energy levels, and the electromagnetic spectrum. She understands this material very well now."
"The student and I went through problems related to conservation of linear momentum and energy. I explained to him all the basic concepts involving resultant and direction of a vector. I also asked him about his last exam. He said he was above average in class and expected to get an A. He seemed to understand everything I went through."
"The student and I were reviewing for her exam. She really wanted to hammer solutions, so we focused on that. "
"The student and I worked extensively on a very tough problem from her Classical Mechanics homework involving Lagrangian mechanics under multiple constraints. The equations of motion were relatively straightforward for us to set up. Solving them, however, required a fair amount of skill and cleverness with our algebra, trigonometry, and calculus."
"The student and I worked extensively on preparing for her upcoming physics test (covering mostly kinematics and one and two-dimensional motion, including projectile trajectories). In particular, we worked through three problems completely, going through all steps and focusing on the problem set-up. It was a pleasure to work with her, and I hope to continue working with her in the future. She will let me know how the test goes tomorrow."
